Fortress Recruitment are currently recruiting for an Investigations Officer based in London. This is a contract role to support Enforcement Officers in a coordinated approach to identify and take enforcement action against rogue landlords and agents. The post holder is expected to use the most recent intelligence technology available to conduct investigations of named landlords and agents, provided by partners, as determined the Environmental Health Team Manager.
Investigate landlords who provide poor standards of rented accommodation and who are in contravention of the law.
Develop and maintain an up to- date database of rogue landlords using information from the Council’s Enforcement and licensing officers.
Prioritise and manage own workload.
To prepare reports, memoranda, witness statements, and letters as necessary for the purpose of enquiry, information gathering/sharing and explanation.
Knowledge & Experience
Enhanced DBS required - or the ability to apply for one.
Knowledge of RIPA Data Protection, FOI, Criminal law or Housing law.
Investigation experience dealing with cases resulting in criminal prosecution.
Successful completion of professional training as Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist or other relevant qualification.
Experience of preparing cases to prosecution standard.
Experience of conducting research and writing detailed reports of a complex, factual and confidential nature.
Experience of working with database systems and proficient with IT packages.
Experience of making enquiries in order to determine facts.
Experience of working as a fraud investigator in the public sector.
Proven ability to prepare technical reports proofs of evidence, briefing notes and correspondence for moderately complex issues within the service area with minimal support from lead officers
