We have several opportunities for experienced Housing Options Officers, that have experience of working with Homeless Clients to work in various temporary, but ongoing roles across London.
As a Housing Options Officer you will identify potential housing providers able to assist non-priority homeless persons obtain good quality housing.
You will interview and advise homeless people of all available housing opportunities giving advice regarding their rights and responsibilities and to give appropriate assistance to such customers in accordance with the Council’s statutory duties under the Housing Act 1996 Section 190 and Section 192. You will refer homeless people to suitable available housing options speedily and efficiently ensuring appropriate follow-up to monitor success and reasons for any failure.
You will interview persons in housing need giving high quality advice and assistance as appropriate dealing tactfully and sympathetically with applicants in frequently stressful circumstances having regard to the Council’s customer care philosophy. You will ensure that all relevant information is obtained and documented within agreed time scales.
You will match people in housing need to available properties and make referrals as appropriate to housing providers and maintain a detailed knowledge of welfare benefits and advise clients regarding benefit entitlements.
